Royal United 1-1 Century KKK

Royal United played Century KKK on the 28th March'10 at the Century grounds, Shahad.

Royal went into this game with a very positive attitude and without couple of their regular starting players. Even after this, Royal entered into this game with great spirits.

First half was evenly balanced between both the teams. Century KKK players were taking some long range shots to test our keeper, but Devendra Sharma was firm as ever.
Rakesh Menon put a nice through ball for Regi Thomas through the midfield, but Regi was unable to connect. It was a gem of a ball and a sure goal, if connected.

Rikesh was released on the right flanks and he crossed into the box, but Regi Thomas was under pressure and could not connect to the same.

Mis-communication between the Royal defenders left a Century player free in the box, with ample of time to take a shot beating Devendra Sharma.

It was Century 1-0 Royal United at first half.

Century started the second half with an approach of scoring more goals, but Royal United had some other ideas.

Royal was constantly on the attack and most of the game was played in Century's half only.

Regi Thomas dribbled into the box, just to see the ball driven wide of the second post.
After sometime Rakesh Menon went into the attack and saw the ball zip past the second post again. Century defence was under tremendous pressure.

There were couple of counter attack by Century, but Royal defence was firm and solid.
One century player was tripped inside the box and a penalty was awarded by the referee.
Century player stepped up for the penalty, but Devendra Sharma was successful in stopping the same and not allowing century to extend their lead.

Post penalty, Royal was in a more aggressive mode and constantly attacking the Century goal, with shots just missing the goal. Prashant Bhondve also had a good game, but could have done far better. He took nice attempts on the century goal during the match.

Rakesh Menon made a brilliant run in the box and was tackled from behind by a Century defender. Penalty was awarded. Sanoj Koran converted the penalty without any mistake.

Century 1-1 Royal United

Even after this penalty Royal had not given up. They pressed hard for the second goal, but Century defence held on and points were shared between the two.

All in all a very good game of football. Spectators also enjoyed the game.
But Royal could have done far better in the mid-field and up front. Lot of room for improvement.

Regards,
Mahendra Sharma
